Our Philosophy

Learning at their own pace.

Innovate Academy thrives on creating a nurturing and engaging environment for all children — where curiosity, movement, and connection set every child up for a lifetime of success.

The Montessori Method

A century of child-led wisdom

Developed by Dr. Maria Montessori in the early 1900s, the Montessori method is one of the most researched and respected approaches to early childhood education in the world. It begins with a simple but radical idea: children are not empty vessels to be filled with knowledge — they are natural scientists, artists, and philosophers who learn best through direct, hands-on experience.

In a Montessori environment, children choose their own work from a carefully prepared set of materials, move freely through the classroom, and progress at their own pace. Teachers act as guides — observing, supporting, and gently introducing new challenges when a child is ready. The result is a deep, intrinsic love of learning that lasts a lifetime.

At Innovate Academy, we honor this tradition while weaving in the unique gifts of our Pacific Northwest, the seasons, and the living world just outside our doors. All meanwhile ensuring every child is meeting milestones and gaining knowledge and educational experiences every day.

Nature as Classroom

The environment is our teacher

Washington state is one of the most ecologically rich places on earth. Ancient forests, tidal pools, mountain meadows, and river valleys surround us — and we treat all of it as curriculum. Children who spend time in nature develop stronger attention spans, greater resilience, and a deeper sense of belonging in the world.

Every day at Innovate Academy includes time outdoors — in our garden, on nature walks in our dedicated outdoor learning space. We study the seasons as they change, tend to living plants, observe insects and birds, and bring natural materials into our indoor classrooms. Rain is not a reason to stay inside; it is an invitation to put on boots and discover what the world looks like after a storm.

What we believe

Nurturing every child

We are passionate about creating a warm, engaging environment where every child feels safe, seen, and celebrated for exactly who they are.

Exploring physical abilities

We believe movement is learning. Children are encouraged to explore their own physical capabilities — climbing, running, building, and discovering what their bodies can do.

Partnership with families

Parent communication and relationship are at the heart of everything we do. We work closely with every family to understand each child and keep caregivers informed, involved, and empowered.

Child-led discovery

We follow each child's curiosity rather than imposing a fixed curriculum. When a child is deeply engaged, learning is happening — even if it doesn't look like a lesson.

Building tomorrow's leaders

Our goal is not just school readiness — it's life readiness. We nurture independence, empathy, resilience, and confidence so children grow into great leaders.

Prepared environments matter

Every corner of our classrooms is intentional. Materials are beautiful, ordered, and accessible. Space is calm and uncluttered. The environment itself teaches.

Come experience it for yourself

Words only go so far. The best way to understand what we do is to walk through our doors & feel that invitation to wonder and learn.
